PROJECTS IN LABERPITO BILLIRI L.G.A GOMBE STATE
DRILLING OF BOREHOLE PROJECT

Activities of project also included drilling of boreholes, construction of 5000 liters of overhead tank, fitted with the solar water pump. Immediately fund were released, GINI started the a fore mentioned project (drilling of borehole, construction of 5000 liters overhead tank) at Laberpito, Billiri, LGA, Gombe state. This is to provide clean drinking water to the community and their neighbors as well as for the nursery and orchard.
PLANTING OF SEEDLINGS IN THE PROPOSE SITE IN LABERPITO

These Projects, were carried out successfully. This was followed by establishing of the nursery, sand filling of Ten thousand Polythene bags and subsequent planting. These polythene bags were watered for six month (from February to 20th July 2016). This was followed by launching/distribution for onward plating of the ten thousand seedlings by the ten grouped communities on 20th July 2016.
That same day, two thousand improved and acquires seedlings were planted on the proposed Laberpito orchard. The two thousand seedlings planted includes: one thousand Mango seedlings; two hundred seedlings each of guava, pawpaw, orange, Banana and palm oil. The orchard is also fenced and secured from intruders and stray animal
TRAINING ON DETERGENT MAKING AND VASELINE POMED
TRAINEES LEARNING HOW TO MAKE VASELINE AND DETERGENT
About one hundred (100) participants (93 women, 7 men) were trained on Fabrication of Energy Saving Stove and Skill acquisition (making Vaseline and detergents for washing), which took place on 4th March, 2017 at Dimbol Hall, Tal, Billiri LGA. Trainees were exposes to construction of Biogas stove using cow dung or rice straw which becomes fermented within twenty one days (21).
Laberpito project is one of the most successful project that is of great economic, environmental and social benefit to the community and their neighbors. This project will for years to come be remembered and reflected for biodiversity, conservation and development.
GINI success may not be unconnected with proper, adequate advocacy, community relationship and series of training and support from GEF/SGP.
